RCW Welcomes Union Rescue Mission

A big warm welcome to RCW’s newest client the Union Rescue Mission!

hfh

The Union Rescue Mission (URM) is one of the largest missions of its kind in America — bringing help and hope to men, women, and children experiencing homelessness in Downtown Los Angeles. The URM provides comprehensive emergency and long-term services to our guests to help them escape the dangerous streets of Skid Row. Women and children now make up 40% of people experiencing homelessness. That’s why the Union Rescue Mission created the Hope Gardens Family Center. The Hope Gardens Family Center houses and helps over a 100 children, mothers, and single women get off of skid row and transition to a independent living.

With the holidays right around the corner, there is no better time this year to get involved with non-profits and charities. It’s the time of year to give back. RCW Media Group has partnered with the URM and their Hope Garden Family Center for the 2014 Hearts for Hope “A Future of Hope” Gala. The Gala will take place at the Four Seasons, West Lake Village. This year’s red carpet event will include a silent auction, only the best in entertainment, great food, and company.

Last year’s entertainment included Joy Enriquez, wife of Grammy Award winning producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, Malibu singer-songwriter Kylie Hughes, and was hosted by comedian Robert G. Lee. Thanks to the 2013 honorees, sponsors, and special guests, the event was a success, raising over $400,000 for the Hope Garden Family Center.

The RCW team is honored to be apart of such a great cause and the 2014 Hearts for Hope “A Future of Hope” Gala!

See Hollywood like you have never seen it before! Runyon Canyon offers breath taking views for hikers and great trails for bikers. runyoncanyon-losangeles.com

3. SHOP!

Holiday weekends means holiday deals. If you haven’t been over to shop on Rodeo Drive, when’s a better time to go than right now. With shops for everyone, this can be the perfect time for families or friends. www.rodeodrive-bh.com/index4.html

4. See the Stars.

A tourist must see, check out Hollywood’s Walk of Fame this holiday. I suggest stopping at our favorite, star 6774!  www.walkoffame.com

5. Dine.

Known for being a restaurant spot for celebrity sightings, WolfGang Puck has several locations around LA. Any location you visit, will provide you with a great dining experience. www.wolfgangpuck.com/restaurants/locations/los-angeles

Explore LA

It’s FINALLY Friday! Wanted to share our favorite things to do and places to eat and drink for our readers to check out this weekend! Besides what not to do (taking the 405 freeway on a Friday afternoon, or anytime really). So whether you’re in  The Valley, Santa Monica , Hollywood or Downtown, here is what we suggest!

The San Fernando Valley:

Do:

NoHo Arts District can offer you a huge variety of choices. There are more than 20 theatres in the NoHo area, so the possibilites are endless.  On Lankershim Blvd, there are plenty of art galleries, be sure to check out the NoHo Gallery LA. There is a wide variety of artists working in various mediums.

Live music and other performances make the area an artist’s paradise.

Eat:

Pedalers Fork: Farm to table restuarant serving up the freshest food. It offers a coffee bar, bike shop and restaurant. What to order: Forbidden Salad.

Drink:

Tiki No: Drinks  here are always delicious. Every drink has just the right amount of alcohol.

Santa Monica:

Do:

Bike along the Santa Monica Coastline – You can rent a bike and peddle through 26 miles of the Californian Beachfront.

Shop:

Boutique Shopping in Abbott Kinney. This area is filled with small stores that cover everything from vintage cake stands to curated, designer clothing.

Eat:

Gjelina:  One of the few places where everything on the menu  taste spectacular. We love their brunch menu, but be sure to shop early to avoid the long wait. Our favourite thing to order is Gruyere Pizza with caramelized Onion. Save room for dessert, their butterscotch pot de creme is a must!

Drink:

Hotel Erwin – Enjoy your drink while overlooking the Venice beach coastline. The bar in this hotel gets packed so get there early.

Hollywood/Beverly Hills

Do:

Griffith Observatory – This is one of LA’s iconic landmarks. Admission to the building and grounds of Griffith Observatory is free of charge. Come here after 8 to enjoy the beautiful nighttime view of Los Angeles.

Eat:

INK: This Beverly Hill restaurant, owned by Top Chef Michael Voltaggio, serves up a unique blend of dishes.  Our favourite dish is the Egg yolk gnocchi and of course let’s not forget about dessert, be sure to order Apple (apple, caramel, shortbread, burnt wood semifreddo). This dessert is delicious and really cool as the semifreddo is  served in a meringue type dome that you had to crack to eat!

Drink:

Eveleigh – Hands down one of the prettiest patios in the city. Share a pitcher of their tequila-infused lemonade and spend the rest of the day relaxing in the shade.

Shop:

Beverly Hills “Trifecta”–  This street is where you will find all the high end fashion brands. Stroll down these streets for some fashion inspiration.

Downtown:

Do:

Downtown Architectural Tour – The walking tours of downtown L.A. provides a great view of history, culture and its current renaissance.

Eat:

Bottega Louie: This place is filled with gourmet goodies, from macarons to freshly baked pasteries. This place is a food ies’ haven. Our favourite thing to order is the portebello mushroom fries, french toast, beignets, lemon ricotta pancakes and definitely purchase some macarons when you head out.

Drink:

Perch got it all: great french inspired décor, live music, and an amazing view of the city.

We hope to see you this weekend at our favorite spots! Whatever you plan to do this weekend, keep it RED CARPET WORTHY!

Have your cake and eat it too!

I find that brands, particullary recent start ups or established smaller brands, are wondering why they would ever need outside public relations services. Some do not see a need at all but the majority of these brands ask themselves why they can’t they just do it themselves. What even is “PR” anyways? According to your google search, public relations can be defined as “managing the spread of information between an individual or organization to the public.” Sounds more like a disease than actually providing me with insight on how to build a brand’s reputation. Here’s how I like to define it. Public relations is similar to making a cake. You picked up a yummy cake mix and already had the butter, eggs and milk in your kitchen. All set! You mix the ingredients and place it in the oven. Unfortunately after you have already start baking you realize you forgot to add in the vegetable oil. Your cake masterpiece burns. YIKES!

So how does baking a cake have anything to do with my brand and public relations? If you are a recent startup chances are your time and resources are limited and you won’t be focusing those on pitching your brand, product or service effectively to the right media outlet. This however is essential to your brand’s survival or aka the vegetable oil. For newer companies sometimes you only get one shot. If you do not have a proper public relations plan in place, this can be a recipe for disaster. An experienced public relations firm is able to understand your brand, product and/or service and amplify the success with having the time, resources, and connections to reach your goals and build your brand’s reputation. Cost of services may also be a huge factor for you. That extra wiggle room in your budget is being set aside for paid media advertisements. Paid media can be effective, but earned media is everlasting. A reputable PR firm can turn your company’s paid local newspaper advertisement into a feature in a magazine that’s actually in-line with what your audience is reading. Most PR companies are also able to adhere to smaller budget needs with pricing structures on a need to need basis.

For established smaller brands you may have already found your perfect cake mixture, but feel like your brand hasn’t been “rising” and you’re ready for the next level. But who knows your brand and customers better than yourself? You are indeed correct and most definitely biased. Of course your brand is the best! And when choosing a public relations firm be mindful that they believe this to be true as well. PR firms not only provide brands with press releases and media placements, some specialize in brand development, social media management and special event management. Plus having a little extra passion, creativity and an outside perspective could be just the key ingredient you were missing…Bon Appetit!

PR Tip of the Day: Stop talking about yourself.

In the day and age of social everything, it’s time to stop talking and start listening. It’s common for brands to want to use social media platforms as a means of promoting themselves, their products, and/or services. Have you seen our latest? Here at…we believe in. Was the post “like” worthy? What was the reach? Instead try a different approach. Ask yourself what my audience is doing? What are they talking about? Be attentive to your audiences’ feedback (good or bad) and interact. Throw out some intriguing questions. If you happen to be in the fashion industry, ask your audience to post their best weekend outfit on your Facebook wall and give the who wore it best an extra little something!

Nick Cannon hosts his third annual back-to-school event

RCW’s favorite family man shows just how ‘NCredible’ he really is as Nick Cannon hosts his third annual back-to-school event for underprivileged kids in Los Angeles. Sponsors such as Office Depot, Monster Cable, C.A.N.V.A.S Shoes, Mead and Five Star collaborated on the event with Nick Cannon to provide a day of entertainment, giveaways and laughter last Saturday August 11th 2012 at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. The host used his star power & provide performances from his artist Wonder Broz, 4Count, The Rangers and New Boyz and refreshments by Vitamin Water and Pop Chips.

In an interview with Hip Hollywood Nick said “It’s important to give back to the community, especially around the time of back to school to encourage people to strive for something. It’s about motivation; a lot of the time family members can’t always provide something that a kid may need to get a head start so we want to help out”.

Nick himself took the time to sit down with the kids at the event painting custom designs on C.A.N.V.A.S Shoes and provided over 1000 backpacks filled with school supplies which were generously donated by official sponsors of the event.

Nick Cannon shows how staying Red Carpet Worthy can also mean doing your part to support others. Thanks Nick, you are a true SUPERSTAR!!

Music Paradise

As we move North of Morocco we arrive at a modern day party Paradise known for being abundant in what is Young, beautiful, and the latest music phenomenon: Electric Music. A Mediterranean island with transparent water located off the coast of Spain is characterized by it’s partying soul; it’s considered the island with the best summer parties and attracts millions of tourists to its clubs with nothing, but the best DJs and music of the moment. This place is known as Ibiza. Today, what has caught our attention is not the latest beach club or party, but the famous and widely recognized DJ: David Guetta. David Guetta, considered the number one DJ of 2012, not only has reached the top ranks, but has also opened his very own lounge club inside of Ibiza’s Airport. Yes, you heard right: a club at the airport, for those who want to get the party started a few minutes at their arrival or for those who want to continue the party until the last minute. The club is in conjunction with the F *** me I’m Famous album series, which is in collaboration with Guetta’s wife Cathy. This is the first club of its kind and truly gives a statement of party all night.
